Is this a stand-alone computer or on a network?
What version of PC+ are you running?
Have you applied any of the maintenance releases?
There was a known reindex problem that was resolved by a MR (and one was just posted yesterday).
Hope this helps.
Jeff

It looks like you are using version 9.
There is a tool that ships with version 9 that might be able to recover this file. However, it is password protected. Using the tool incorrectly can cause data loss, thus the password requirement. Call tech support for assistance.
Do you have any idea(s) of where in the process of running the report the system appeared to hang? What I am digging for is, was it attempting to display the report at the time? Was it still gathering the data? etc...
Thanks,

reindex will not work
in reply to Jeff - This is on a network but I was the only one using a computer on the network at the time - the other 3 computers were not even turned on. I am using the latest version PC+9 MR 12/02/2004
My computer is IBM Compatible, 86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 3with a 30 gig hard drive, 384 MB RAM and I even retried the reindex after installing the latest maintenance release yesterday. Still gave me the same message.
In reply to Tracy - as far as process in running report - The report was open on the screen, I told it to print to the printer and lo, and behold the system stopped responding. and I received the message. If the tool in Version 9 cannot recover this file what do I do next?

The tool in v9 should restore it, and you can continue on just fine. COINFO stores your Contributions settings defined in File-> Preferences-> Contributions Setup, so you may have to check those. You will need to call and talk to a technician to do this though. A worst case scenario is that we have to send you a blank copy of the file (actually, fileS - there are 3), which is what we used to do prior to Tracy building this utility.

About your printing: Looks like the printer driver, or the Windows spooler took a leap into the nether of random bits. After a system restart it will start working again. I do not know why these occasionally do this, I've seen it more on Windows 9x type machines then Windows 2000 and XP, but they do still occur even on the newer machines.
