ok, so I'm trying to find the proper way of doing this. We have special services over a weekend and receive contributions on 2 different days. I would like to show it in contributions on 2 different days (2 transactions). But we will make a deposit with the combined totals. When we post to contributions it goes in as 2 transactions and then to fund accounting. But we are actually making the deposit as one total...so when we go to check register and eventually reconcile the bank statement, it will not be showing right on this end of it because we initally entered it as two. Is there a way to be able to enter the seperate transactions but have them be one in fund acct? Would I go ahead and do them seperately in contributions, post and then make the change in unposted fund accounting? Is this proper?
It happened already incorrectly. Our treasurer made the 2 transactions and posted to contributions. I went ahead and posted to fund accounting before getting the deposit slip from the treasurer. Found out that lodgically, he made the deposit of the combined total. Now, I have to go back and correct it. I'm thinking I just fix it in fund acct by doing a reversal of the two and then add in the combined ttl. That way it will be right in check register and reconcilling bank statement....but it will also show the 2 transactions in contribution which is what I want. Am I thinking this through properly?

You are thinking correctly. You can go into Fund Accounting / Modify Unposted Transactions, delete one of the transactions, and adjust the amount of the second to be the sum of the two.
I would consider that very ambitious of you, but it will work. I would simply make two deposits at the bank and not do all that "extra" work in PowerChurch.

Which version do you have? In 10 and above, you can choose to post all contributions for all dates as a single date as part of the posting process. So you could have multiple days of contributions all post to fund accounting as a single deposit. In older versions, then you would need to modify those in Unposted Transactions in fund accounting.

Re: contribution/multi put on same deposit
great, thanks for all the replies. John....I would love to just make 2 seperate deposits...but I'm not the one doing it...our treasurer is...I have to just go with how he does it. To me, it is logical to just do one.
which version...we do have the newest. glad to know I was thinking properly. Thank you everyone for added your two cents....glad to know I'm on the right track! Blessings to you and your churches!

Version 10 and newer give you the option to post all contributions dates as one transaction into Fund Accounting. It will be an option on the screen after you make the selection for the dates you want to post.
