One check contribution for two separate funds

Post by pvanatti »

We have our general fund and a youth group fund they are both in the same checking account. When someone gives to both on one check how do I get the part that is designated for the youth over to that fund account. I also need it to be all in one deposit.

Since you're calling this a contribution, what I would do is make sure that you have a Contribution Fund setup under Contributions that point to the correct income and checking accounts in Fund Accounting.

I'm assuming that you have the general and youth funds setup as separate funds under Funds Accounting. If General is 01, and Youth is 02, then you would just setup the Contributions Funds in Contribution to point to the 01-1110-000 checking account for General and 02-1110-000 for Youth (they should have the same major number 1110).

As far as the income account, your 01 income account would be your normal tithes and offereing, and your 02 income account would be your Youth Fund income account.

That's all there is to it. As long as you have them setup properly in Contributions, the system will create the proper Funds Accounting transactions when you post your contributions.

FWIW .. that's how we have our 5 funds setup here, they all use the same checking account, but the system keeps the totals separate so we know how much we have under each fund.
