Using version 11.5 windows 7. We are gradually moving into different modules of power church plus which originally was perceived to be a good idea. Because we didn't set up accounting along with contributions, we now find it necessary to manual key in income data to accounting. Do you know what affect the journal code plays in this process. I keyed the manual deposit using this processs: accounting/fund accounting/enter manual transaction. In doing so, I didn't change the journal code but left it " GE". Now we post to fund accounting from contributions on the reports that I pulled the Journal code is CO.
I am asking because the June income/expense report is off by several thousand dollars. I was wondering if accounting would read the journal code ge as income or something else?
Just finished posting july 7 contributions, made doubly sure before posting that it would post to fund accounting. Nothing is there for July income, total is $0.00

The only things the codes do, is show where the transaction came from, not if the transaction shows income or expense. That is determined by the accounts that you used in the transaction.jcgraves3004 wrote:Using version 11.5 windows 7. As far as posting contributions, when you post, all the Contributions module does is create Funds Accounting transactions which are placed in the FA Unposted Transactions queue. They are probably there awaiting posting.
The reason this is a two step process is because at many churches, the person who posts contributions is not the same person who verifies the deposit receipt from the bank. This way the person who does the Funds Accounting (check writing) can verify the receipt from the bank and correct any errors before they are posted to the Income Accounts in Funds Accounting.
Hope this helps.

Re: Income
Thank you, it is exactly as you said, in unposted transactions. Thanks again!
