I am trying to send contribution statements through the all contribution statement report. When I get to the advanced email settings. I enter the my outgoing email smtp as mail.yahoo.com. Then I check the authentication & I enter my email as my username & email password for the password. security is none. Then I click finish & I get this error.
A problem has occurred in connecting to the SMTP server prior to sending the email. A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.
What am I doing wrong?

Re: Contribution email error
I take it that you access your church email using a browser? In which case that server will not work. Try using smtp.mail.yahoo.com without any security. If that doesn't work, try the suggestion below.fbcwtn wrote:I am trying to send contribution statements through the all contribution statement report. When I get to the advanced email settings. Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com:465 (Use SSL, use authentication)
There is a difference in what these instructions say is the 'userid/account name/login name". this one says to just enter the MailID without the domain:
Account Name/Login Name: Your Yahoo! Mail ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com")
Email Address: Your Yahoo! Mail address (e.g., user@yahoo.com)
Password: Your Yahoo! Mail password
