I have power church plus version 9. When I go to contributions and click on the enter contributions I get an locate database message that says error instantiating cursor object. cannot find c:\powerchurch\pcplus9\cotrans.dbf.
Any suggestions? If I click on cancel or ignore it closes the program.

Re: error message
The first thing I would suggest, is run a REINDEX of the database. Sometimes this fixes database issues.grey wrote:I have power church plus version 9. Let us know if this fixes it or not. If not, include what version of Windows you are using, and if this program is run as a client over a network, or a single install.
As an aside: PCPlus v9 is now over 10 years old, and is basically no longer being supported with updates. Its a good time to consider upgrading to v11.5. Upgrading is only $149.00, and is well worth the new functionality and upgrades.

error 1
file does not exist
I am running windows xp and a single install I think

Re: error message
Can you do a file search for the dbf to see if you or someone else accidentally moved the file? Do this by clicking on START > SEARCH then "All Files and folders". Type in the name of the missing dbf file and click search.
Another question, do you have a backup so that you could restore the contributions module?

If you're sure that you're not running PCPlus as a network client, then you may have to call Tech Support directly. The reason I say that is the only other instance of this error I can find, was the result of a network user's system not updated the file properly when his computer crashed.grey wrote:When I try to reindex , it will go through all except the contributions and I get an error message

There are two more things you could try:
As was mentioned you could restore back to a previous backup, however, if the only backups you do are of the entire database, you will then have to reenter all the data in ALL the modules that was entered or updated since that backup.
And if that backup is a few weeks old, that could be a lot of data.
I would first open the Windows XP Trashcan to see if the file may be there. If so, you could restore that file from there. As far as the file being moved, unless someone was physically going into the file directories to play with the files, I can't see this happening.
Let us know how it works out.
