Can you clear a date from posted contributions?

Post by LWCC »

Our church secretary accidentally posted a contribution with the year 9819. We found the error, made a debit post to that date and entered the correct date and contribution. The totals are correct but now on our reports the highest contribution date shows the year 9819. Is there any way to clear this erroneous date so that it doesn't show up? Thank you.

How did you reverse the entry? If you did this in Funds Accounting and not without reversing the entry in Contributions, they'll still show up.

Unless I'm misunderstanding what reports you're talking about.

We use different bookkeeping software and only use the contributions module to post and track contributions. In contributions, we entered the erroneous date, made a negative contribution entry to reverse the previous entry, then posted the contribution under the correct date. But for example, on system status report it still shows the highest contribution date as the year 9819.

Well, you reversed the entry, but that original entry is still in the system with that date. You may need to call Powerchurch support, as I don't know of a programmatic way to delete it.

It shouldn't show up on any contribution statement.

Since this date is so far in the future, you can just use the delete old data in contributions and delete the information for the 9819 year.

Never thought about that being 'old' data ... :)
