pledges for missionaries

I'm new to posting pledges but I figured it out, but I need help with the fund selected.
I'm posting to missions but it doesn't give me a choose to put which missionary it is for,
is there a way to do this? Do I have to add a new fund?

I think I figured it out, I went to "maintain list of disignations" and add each missionaries name.

You can do that, however you need to check if this may affect whether or not the donation can be deducted. IRS rules say that if someone donates toward a general mission fund, and then money is donated to a missionary from that pot, it is deductible.

However, if it is designated to support a particular missionary, even if the money goes into a general pot, and that missionary only gets those funds that are so designated, the donation may not be deducted as the contributor is supporting a single person.

You definitely need to consider this when disbursing such funds. If every missionary gets an equal amount from the pot, then there's no problem, however, if one gets more based on the designation, there can be repercussions.

Could you be more specific?? What are you trying to do?

I want to be able to keep up with who sponsored whom, so it shows up when I post contributions.

Again, you can use the designations.

However, such direct designations can make such donations non-deductable.
