Deleting a returned check from contributions

I received a returned check about two weeks ago, I now need to back it out of the system. Can anyone help me with this? I have the 8.5 version if that helps.

What you need to do is enter a contribution for a negative amount against that envelope.

For instance.

On Sunday Sept 4th, a check was entered for envelope 100 for $50. Today, the check was returned from the bank. You should now enter a contribtuion for $ -50 for envelope 100 with a date of Sept 4th.

When your contributions are posted, this will also update the Fund Accounting.

It worked! Thank you so much! This is all still new to me, I only had three weeks of training before the person prior to me left this job. I greatly appreciate your help in this.
