Offerings - How to add them to Contributions
I am new to Powerchurch. How to I record a general offering from each Sunday into the Contribution Module. I thought I should set up a member named Offering to record the money. How is everyone else doing this? Thanks.

If you're talking about loose plate offerings where you don't know who gave the money, that's exactly how you would handle it. There's a Tales From Tech 2 article that discusses that here:

Chart of Accounts
Thanks for the information on how to handle offerings. I need some help with my Chart of Accounts. Can anyone give me a chart of accounts that is working for their church?
Re: Chart of Accounts
Best ask over in the accounting forum ... more people who are concerned with that area, will see it.txranger wrote:Thanks for the information on how to handle offerings. I need some help with my Chart of Accounts. Can anyone give me a chart of accounts that is working for their church?

Re: Modules
Sure, the modules are not connected in any way, so you can enter all your membership data as well as contributions data prior to finishing the accounting module.txranger wrote:Can I add members before I get the chart of accounts set up?
However, if you plan to transfer the data from contributions to post to accounting, you'll need to have your COA setup, and designate which checking or savings account you want the contributions deposited and posted to, as each of your Contribution funds must have the location of that account to tranfer that data.

That actually tends to limit you, as a separate 'envelope' number takes care of tracking all the loose contributions, as well as any 'anonymous' contributions to some of the other funds (building, seasonal giving, etc) that may come in. In this way, you can post the anonymous donations to the correct fund, and have a correct 'running total' at all times.billiemc wrote:Posting loose contribution we set a contribution fund up titled loose money with it own fund number it works great.
