One Check, Two Funds (2 bank accounts)
We're using the check reader and I have a couple of people who are writing ONE CHECK that part of it goes to Tithe and part of it goes to a Building Fund that are separate accounts at the bank. We used to be able to handle this by just grabbing the amount of the Building Fund in cash and put it in the Tithes stack of cash, and put the entire check in the Building Fund (or vice versa). This messes up the deposit ticket, but I don't know any other way of doing it short of asking the contributors to STOP doing it this way and write TWO checks.

We just use one account that all the contributions are deposited in, then our treasurer will move the money to the Building Fund based on the amounts transferred from the Contributions module to the Accounting module.Dish-Man wrote:We're using the check reader and I have a couple of people who are writing ONE CHECK that part of it goes to Tithe and part of it goes to a Building Fund that are separate accounts at the bank. She does this electronically on-line once a month, and it solves the kind of issues you're seeing.

thanks Neil! After having a training session for my Counters last night, that is EXACTLY what we decided to do! If we try to "monkey" with the deposit by taking cash out of one account and putting it into another one, it messes up the audit trail (and really confused my Financial Secretary to boot!).
