Deleting Contribution Funds

Hello,

After several years of not utilizing our PowerChurch software too much, we are making an effort to clean up a lot of old data. We currentlly have numerous contribution funds that have not been used in years. The problem is that when we go to delete them, we get an error box that states "This contribution fund cannot be deleted because data exists for this contribution fund". How we can we delete these old funds?

You may need to eliminate prior years data, do a backup, burn that to CD so you'll have it just in case. Then do a contributions cleanup.

I'm just barely - and slowly - getting into PCP for the first time (v10 on XP).

I have not entered *any* contributions, only contribution funds/descriptions that I *thought* I would want to use. However, a couple of them won't be needed after all and I tried to delete them but got the same "cannot be deleted" error message as the previous post-er.

I ran Delete Old Data (even though nothing was entered against any of the contribution funds) and I still get the error message. What am I missing? Thanks in advance for any help on this.

EDIT: I found what I was "missing" -- I only Deleted Old Data for posted contributions. When I went back in and deleted for Pledges, then tried to delete my unneeded contribution funds, I was able to do so without getting any error messages. If this was already covered elsewhere in this forum, I apologize. (I have read my way through all 19 pages of the Accounting forum, but have not been so industrious in the Contributions forum. I will correct that now!)

These forums are SUPER as a training/instruction tool. I really appreciate the overwhelming sense of compassion and willingness to help shown by users and PCP staff too.
