From the Enter Contributions screen is a button that opens another panel to Add Contributor. Is there a way to change the order of the names that appear?

Example: under the search criteria if you enter the name Smith a list of all the Smith's in the database appear. Unfortunately, they do not seem to be in any particular order. Smith is a common name so this leaves us to scroll thru a list of ALL the Smith's. Often we miss an existing person and Add another with the same name and a new envelope number.

Is there a better way to do this or is there a means to set the order of the names that appear?

The contributor look up is in Last Name + First Name order. If someone has a preferred name entered, the look up will show the preferred name and the given name in parenthesis. In this case it will be ordered using the preferred name.

I'll just chime in here, Jeff. I agree that when entering a contributor on the fly, for me it would make more sense to have the lastname field come first. I'm constantly reversing these, but I usually catch them before I finish. This should probably go in the wish list area, but since it had been brought up....
