Seemingly Corrupted Contribution Envelope Number

Post by brainerdpres »

We use Envelope Number "500" for all contributions that come in from non-members or are donations where a service or good was received. So, none of them are actually tied to a specific contributor. However, in many cases the '500' donations themselves are tied to a particular contribution fund and of course, we need them to be reflected in reports with envelope number ranges 1 - 500.
We recently tried to run a Contribution Report for all "500" envelopes for 2014 and the report showed "No Records Found". We know many should have been found as many were entered as "500's" last year as well. We tried the same report for 2015 and it showed a reasonable number of records. Of course, we doubt the validity of this report. We have since found that all of the 2015 "500's" now show up as 99999's. However, the 2015s are still a mixture of both 500's and 99999's.
In running a QMF we have found that the 500's on a given Sunday are now reflected as '99999' and we did not enter them as '99999' envelope numbers. We have applied latest software release updates as we were thinking perhaps it be the cure... but alas, no. In addition, we are unable to select contribution envelope 99999 as it tells us "No Records Found" for even 2015. We appreciate any assistance in this matter! Help! Thanks!

Contributions are moved to the 99999 envelope number when you delete the envelope number from a Personal Profile or delete the whole Person.

If you would like to review the Contributions Audit Log found under Contributions > Setup, you will see an entry with a date/time, user name, and the event of "Delete envelope number". If you have a lot of entries in this audit log, you can skip to the event in question by looking at the date. It will be just before the date that the contributions start showing up again in 2015.
