We have entered a 3 year pledge for building fund. Before the start date of the pledges, 1/1/2004, we received some contributions in Nov, and Dec. of 2003 that were intended to be applied to 3 year pledge. Is there a way I can apply these contributions without going through and changing the date range on the pledge's entered?

I know we can change date range to include these early contributions and then search for contributions to apply to new pledge date range. Thought there might be an easier way to accomplish this since it involves a large number of pledges to change.

If you didn't have a official building fund prior to 2004, but the contributions were entered under that fund number, run a report to pull any contributions made to that fund in 2003 , then head to Contributions => Maintain Pledges, find the contributors in the system, highlight the pledge entry, then click on the change button.

On the pledge entry/change screen you'll see a block for Pledge Start Balance, enter the amount already paid in that block.

Starting in version 8, you actually have the option of applying a contribuition to a pledge outside of the date range of the pledge.

To do this, just go to Contributions -> View Posted Contributions. Pull up the person you're working on and find the particular contribution you want to apply. The filter can come in really handy for this. Then, select that contribution and click "Change Pledge" at the bottom. You'll see a listing of pledges to the fund for that contribution, and a checkbox that says "Do not apply this contribution to a pledge." Uncheck that, and select the appropriate pledge from the list. Of course, this will only work if the fund used on the contribution is the same as the one used on the pledge.
