Now that I have PCP9 all set up and running on a remote server - wouldn't ya know it - one more request <sigh>.

We have one elder who wishes to restrict access to just some records. In other words, we have deacons who deal with the bank stuff, we have two elders who keep track of individual giving. He doesn't want the deacons to be able to see the individual contributor records - only the banking stuff. I have no idea if this is even possible. Any suggestions?

Not sure what you mean. The deacons see the bank stuff, as in Funds Accounting ?? Or they do the deposits ??

FWIW ... if you set the deacons to data entry in the contributions module, they would be able to run only two or three reports, and could only see the contributions that have not yet been posted.

FWIW If that elder has nothing to do with the contributions area, and he's just sticking his nose in, just tell him it has already been taken care of, and square it with the two elders who do the contributions and the deacons.

Here's an idea you can advance, we have a Financial Secretary, in our case a elder not serving on Session. She maintains all the contributions data.

We have individual sets of counters, 1 pair per Sunday, who do the counting, and deposits, they have Data Entry access only.

The Financial Secretary is overseen by the Stewardship Elder, and we have an outside audit yearly. With the audit trail in PC+ you can see exactly what anyone has done, so we have no worries about this setup.

I don't get upset. I think he's just concerned about privacy. I did, however, figure out how to do what he wants. I just don't know why it's such an important issue. The only people who have access to the system are deacons and elders - and we all see, every Sunday, who gives what, how much, and who doesn't give at all. We have managed to keep it confidential thus far!

Exactly ... its an unwritten rule, that no one says anything outside the 'countin' room.
