Year end closing

Is there a calendar year-end closing procedure in the Contributions module? If so, and if one chooses it, what are the ramifications, good or bad?
There is no need for a 'year end closing' in Contributions.
Its up to the user to make sure that they enter contributions or create reports using the correct date or date range. That said, the date that appears when you select the Enter Contributions function is always the current date as seen on your computer.
