Help,

I am trying to use the contributions module for the first time, yet when I try to enter envelope numbers for different people I get the message that unposted contributions exist for the person and that the envelope number cannot be changed, yet there are no unposted contributions for them.

How can I correct this?

Can you clarify. Your church has never used the contributions module before, or this is the first time you've used the module ??

Also, you say that you're changing the numbers for different people, exactly why are you changing the numbers.

Finally, which version are you using, and is it updated to the latest maintenance release?

Our church has never used the contributions module before and I am not trying to change envelope numbers, but assign envelope numbers. The people have no envelope number at all, but when I try to assign a number in the personal profiles, when I click "save" I get the message that unposted transactions exist for the name of the person & therefore I cannot "change" the envelope number. I am using version 9 and I'm not sure if I have the latest updates.

I would definitely check to see if you have the latest updates. For version 9, there was a new update released on 05/17/2007. You can check to see if you have the latest update by going to the HELP pull down menu, selecting About Powerchurch Plus, then clicking on the System Information tab. The date shown there should list the date of the last Maintenance Release applied.

FWIW ... every maintenance release is a cumulative release. That means that if you missed any previous MRs, you only have to install the latest to get all the fixes.

I'd also do a few things, one of which I already suggested:

1. Run a REINDEX of all the files, you can do this from the UTILITIES menu on the menu bar. I'd reindex all the files in the database.

2. Make sure that you run a POST CONTRIBUTION process. I would just run the posting, and use the option to just post contributions and nothing else. You'll get that option when you start the posting process from the options listed in the pull-down list.

Thanks for all your help in resolving my dilemma. I actually deleted all of the info I had already entered (that the program would let me enter) and then restarted pc+. I was able to enter everything. Everything seems to be working fine now.
