Printing Labels from the Contribution Module

I am a new PC user attempting to print labels for the first time. What I want is a label for each member family or individual with an envelope number. It seems the best option is labels from the contribution module chosing all contributers. OK. I am using Avery laser labels # 5160, 30 per page. I have set that as the default under preferences. The problem is that the labels do not line up properly. Teh first line of the top row is right at the upper edge of the label. However, as we go down the page each label prints a little higher relative to the label space. By the bottom row more than half of the top line is cut off. How do I change the spacing, or even better increase the top margin slightly? I have tried to make a custom label but that doesn't seem to work correctly, or at least I haven't figured out that procedure yet. I don't get the list of formats to start with when I chose custom label format. Any help is appreciated.

I remember that the problem is not with margins, etc, but with the size of the fonts. What needs to occur is the system admin (or anyone with those privilages) needs to go into the
File => Preferences menu and select
Mailing Label Setup. Make sure that you have the 5160 label type selected, then click on the
Custom button.
You'll get the report creation screen, with the label shown. Click on the grouped lines so that the group is selected, then select
Ungroup from the
Format pull down menu. Immediately select
Fonts from that same pull down, it will now be ungreyed and available for access. I have my labels setup as
Arial, Normal, 8pt and they work fine. Once you set the font, select
Group from the
Format menu to regroup the lines, and 'set' the font.
Then try running a page of labels to see if they print correctly.
Hope this helps.

I am also having problems printing the labels. I went into "printers" and changed it to labels.
When I go into Preferences; and click on "Custom Report; there is no drop down box that says "group" or "ungroup". We have v9 and also have the lastest maintainance release. Hope someone can help me..soon

You didn't say what kind of problem you're having with printing labels, however ...
You should
NOT have to change the printer settings at all, this process works without any change needed.
The steps are:
1. From the File drop down menu,
Preferences, then select
Mailing Label Setup
2. On the dialog that pops up, select
Custom
3. On the next dialog, select
Edit
4. You'll then get the Report Designer screen. Select the label with your mouse, there should be 4 black dots around the set of lines shown in the report writer.
5. Then from the
Format menu drop down, you should see the
UNGROUP selection listed. Follow the steps as I listed in my previous post to change the fonts.
Again you have to have
System Admin permissions in Powerchurch for this action.
Hope this helps.
