Contributions Only PChurch User

Post by jeffkoke »

This evening I was training a new user in the contributions module.

Her PowerChurch user account is set to "contributions only." I noticed that when an individual's pledge was (to be) recorded, she could not view the pledge in order to select the correct one.

I see this as a distinct disadvantage.

We have people who do not always designate what fund they are pledging towards, so not being able to look it up is a show stopper for us. We do use colored envelopes, so we can tell if it is a missions pledge or a building fund pledge. However, we have multiple missions funds that people pledge towards.

Will this be changed in version 9?

Is there a reason for the program to work this way?

Is this Radio Shack? :o

AdvanceThanks,
Jeff

In the passwords setup (File->Preferences->Passwords), there's an option for "Allow pledge queries by data entry operators." If this is checked, it will do what you're saying it's not doing now. I just double-checked it to make sure.

Radio Shack, indeed.

Outstanding! If I was still the admin, I probably would have known that.

Thanks,

Follow-up question:

Will (can) there be an option to allow Contributions Only PChurch users to have access to the unposted "Contribution Funds" summary report?

It would be nice to be able to select/allow this type user to see/print this and other reports. Perhaps an allow/disallow matrix could be created at the system level (with disallowed being the default)?

Possibly a version 9+ option?

Thanks,
Jeff

It's currently not a v9 feature (if you were beta testing, you'd know that  ). The v9 release is pretty mature, so I don't know what else, if anything, they'll be willing to put in there. It seems like a good idea though.

Zaphod,

I've been asking for this type of feature for about a year or more, currently our counters only have access to the contributions only reports. We'd like to be able to give them access to the funds report as this is usually printed out and given to our treasurer. Right now, either the financial secretary, or I have to print this out later in the week when we are at the church.
