(v9) We have one person who does the Contributions entries at home. When she is done, she sends the Contributions backup file to me via email. I restore it and post it to Fund Accounting. When I did this tonight (first time), I had choices (but no manual at home). One was Update Fund Accounting, and the other Update Fund Accounting Via File. I chose the former. What would have happened if I had used the latter?

p.s. I realize that I have to get the backup Contribution files before they are posted to Fund Accounting because she does not have up-to-date Fund Accounting information on her computer.

Re: Contribution file send via email
Since you restored the contributions area of the main database via a backup of the Contributions file, the method you used Update Fund Accounting is correct. That method takes the unposted data directly from the Contributions database, applies it to the Accounting database, then marks those transactions in the Contributions side as posted.Al wrote:(v9) We have one person who does the Contributions entries at home. The Update Fund Accounting via File method is often used when a treasurer has a copy of Powerchurch on a stand alone computer, often at home, or at a non-networked church location. This function creates a file that can be transfered to a USB flash or thumb drive, or burned to CD that can be used to update Accounting.
