Contributions Reports

Post by MCWA »

Version #: 10.4
Problem: Since updating Windows to SP3, I can no longer save any Contributions Report in MS Office Word 2003. I receive an error message that states: "You are attempting to open a file that was created in an earlier version of Microsoft Office. This file type is blocked from opening in this version by your registry policy setting." NOTE: I spoke with one of the IT guys in our office complex and he advised against doing anything with the registry setting.
I have also attempted to save Contributions Reports in MS Excel 2003. I receive the following error message: "File Error: data may have been lost."
I am able to save these reports in Rich Text Format, but this is only a short-term solution.
Does PC+ have a fix for this problem?

We do not have a fix for this.

There is a much easier fix in Office 2007, but since Microsoft added this into Office 2003 via a Service Pack, there are no menu options to change this behavior, making it necessary to edit the registry get around it.
