For some reason my receipt numbers are starting out with the same numbers as last year.
Is there a way to change the start receipt number?

In versions 12 & 14, head to the menu: File -> Preferences -> Contributions Setup. On the Receipt tab, you have the ability to change the starting number of the tax receipt there.

I went there, but the numbers are grey, so I can not edit it from there.
I was just wondering if there's another spot to enable that.

PS. I'm having trouble with the website blocking my IP address. Strange.

There is only one place that it can be adjusted. It does sound like you do not have permission to adjust that area. I'd talk to your Powerchurch system admin.

If you are the system admin, you should have access to every part of that system. Do you grant permissions to other users for membership, accounting, etc ??

When I get someone to help, I only give them permission to do donations.

I don't think I've ever messed with my permissions?

How about other parts of Powerchurch? Can you access them adjust their settings?

I can, but I may not be looking in the right place.
I went to preferences. Contributions Set-up. Permissions only gives me for the sub...

I apologize that I haven't been following this thread. Neil reached out to lead me here.

The starting receipt number is only editable the first time you run receipts. After that, per CRA specs, the receipt number increments each time you generate receipts. Since PowerChurch stores the last issued receipt number in the database, I'm guessing that a backup was restored after you issued receipts last time, so you ended up with the same starting receipt number.

OK. Thanks very much. I'll stick with it as is then.
