Posting necessary?

We are new to PowerChurch, and are not currently using the Accounting features. Since it is easier to correct contributions before they are posted, we have not been posting them at all. Are there technical reasons (such as database performance) for posting them? We tend to use custom reports, so that is not an issue with non-posted contributions either. What does it buy us to post them?

To just post to the accounting module allows you to insure that the contributions are not 'fiddled' with (it requires two separate transactions to change a contribution rather than just change unposted contributions), and you can run standard reports, such as the member contribution reports.

What kind of custom reports are you running on contributions??
