'Post Contributions to' Issue - HELP!!

For the first time, I am trying to post 2009 contributions to our accounting module directly from our contributions module. We have never done that before. We always did journal entries to account for incoming funds. I want our contributions module to match our accounting module.

Thinking I would just get a report, I made the mistake of selecting 'Print an Accounting Report' from the 'Post Contributions to...' options, and it ran me a report, but it shows my entries are posted to the correct funds in the contributions module but it did not update fund accounting module.

How do I correct this to place the funds in fund accounting? I don't want my first transaction to cause issues for the remainder of the year! :(

Please help!

It won't you will need to manually make the journal entry in Fund Accounting.

yes, i discovered this and have already made the entry....

ideally, this option would warn you that this is not the option to use if you want to update your accounting module.

may seem like a 'duh' on my part, but i never would have thought a report option would also post, so i didn't even think to check that it might.

just a suggestion... one little bitty additional warning... :)

The report option is designed for people that use a different accounting program or another non-networked copy of PowerChurch. (ie church treasurer who runs his own copy of the program at his home.)

Yes, I saw that after the fact. One more warning prior to finalizing the transaction and I would have stopped what I was doing. I am not using another accounting system, and this was the wrong option for me.

I hate to say this, but being in the Post Contributions function does mean that action done in that module will Post Contributions.

You have four options in that module, but they will all post any pending contributions.

If you want a report of Unposted Contributions, you can use the Unposted Contributions report from the Contribution Reports module.

The option you want to use in future is Update Funds Accounting.
