Override default GL acct when posting special contributions

Post by pastortim »

Most of our special contributions are posted to a savings account in the general ledger. How do we override the default general ledger account to allow posting to a different general ledger account, such as a checking account?

I'm assuming that you're doing the posting from the Contributions module.

There's a permanent way to fix this, create a special Contribution fund that is setup to post to the accounts you want these special collections posted to.

The 'on the fly' fix is done in Funds Accounting. Prior to posting the Contributions transactions, you should enter the Modify Unposted Transaction function in the Funds Accounting module. Find the transaction you want posted in different accounts, and change the accounts shown.

Then save, and post.
