Memorial contributions

We record all of our memorial contributions in one income and equity account. We want to identify the person for whom the memorial contribution is for. However, there is no memo field to enter this data in the contribution entry program. Is there a way to record this data without having to create a seperate general ledger account for each memorial?

Just friendly a note for the future; this question pertains to a contribution and or funds accounting question. Posting these questions in the correct forum often gets a faster reply, as people tend to look for answers under the module.
That said, an answer to your question.
Currently, there is no way in the system to identify or track memorial gifts. What many churches do is post these type of contributions to a special memorial fund, then track memorial in a spreadsheet or paper ledger.
I would think that another way of doing this would be in Funds Accounting, creating separate deposits and transactions for each gift, and listing in the transaction notes who gave and why.

Is it possible to add a "Memo" field to the contributions in future upgrades and/or versions?

FWIW ... i would rather NOT see any memo line added to either the current Contributions entry, or the scanner entry screens. It would be one more thing that contribution entry people would have to normally tab by in order to enter a contribution.
I would rather see a separate contribution entry form that would cover such contributions as special bequests, memorials, etc. In other words, stuff that's outside of the normal Sunday collection.

Version 11 will have both a memo/note field AND designated/memorial tracking. These fields will both be on the Enter Contributions screen, but not in the "tab order" of controls. If you don't specifically click into either of the fields, they will not cause any additional keystrokes.
Best of both worlds!

Is there a way to "print" the memo line notation on the Individual Contribution Statement?

When you're going through the screens to setup what will appear on the statement in the
Individual Contribution Statement (as well as the
All Contribution Statements report) if you select the
Full Fund Detail format for the report, checkboxes will appear that will allow you to include the memos and designations. Its only available on this format as this report includes all the information about what contribution funds were donated to and so on.
