Are there plans to add an alpha ordered (by last name) contribution entry report? It is difficult to reconcile entered (unposted) contributions using the existing reports.
Thanks,
Jeff

Unposted CO report
I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you wanting to sort unposted contributions by the data entry person's name? If so, that is an option available in the Unposted Contributions report.
Or, do you want to sort unposted contributions by the name associated with the envelope? In that case, it's not an option on the existing report, but this would be a fairly easy Custom Report to create (well, easy for a Custom Report anyway).
You can also send your suggestion to wishlist@powerchurch.com. Just make sure you specify exactly what you'd like to see, and why you'd like to see it.
Thanks!

Yes, the latter: sort unposted contributions by the name associated with the envelope.
Could you provide some assistance as to how to do the above?
Thanks,
Jeff

Custom Report
Ah, yes. Since the long answer to this question would be well beyond the scope of this forum, or even a call in to tech support, I'll give the quick and dirty answer.
You can create a custom contributions report using unposted totals. Generally, the unposted reports just show you everything, regardless of date, but you might want to use "Contribution Date is between two dates" as your filter option, though you could add more to be more specific-it's really up to you. Then, pick the fields you want to display, and as your sort order, select "Last Name" from the list. Then, you can go on to create your report form to display the data in the format of your choosing.
Getting into the nitty-gritty of creating a custom report is covered in the manual on pages 311-370. We also have some custom report examples in the Answer Archive. Though none of those examples do exactly what you are needing, the concepts are the same.
If you decide that you don't want to do it yourself, we do have a fee-based custom reports department here. They're usually fairly reasonable. You can give us a call to discuss that if you'd like.
