We use PC Release 11.1 We inadvertently posted TO FUND ACCOUNTING a Contribution with a Janaury 15, 2012 Posting Date but a January 2011 Posting Month which has had the effect of distorting the 2011 Income and Expense Statement. I went into Modify Unposted Transactions in FA to correct this but when I try to save the change in the Posting Month I get a warning that the Contribution Module will not reflect this change. If that is in fact the case the implication is that while I fix my Income and Expense Statement issue when it comes to issuing a contributors tax receipt for 2011 it will include the January 15, 2012 contribution. Is my assumption correct and if so is there another way of correcting the Posting Month error that will result in a correction to the both Contribution Module and Fund Accounting?

Re: Modifying the Posting Date
All you are getting is an informational warning that the Funds Accounting module makes when it sees that you are modifying a transaction that comes from Contributions. This is the same type of warning you would get if you tried to change a transaction coming from Payroll, Accounts Payable, or Accounts Receivable.Dave MacFarlane wrote:We use PC Release 11.1 We inadvertently posted TO FUND ACCOUNTING a Contribution with a Janaury 15, 2012 Posting Date but a January 2011 Posting Month which has had the effect of distorting the 2011 Income and Expense Statement. There is NO direct connection from Contributions to Funds Accounting, and the date of posting in Funds Accounting has NO bearing on what reports come out of Contributions. So if the dates of entry is correct in Contributions, the Contribution Statement will be correct. Absolutely no need to worry about changing anything there. The only thing that date in the Post Contributions modules does, is set the posting month in the created transaction.
Just change the unposted transaction in Funds Accounting to reflect the correct posting month.
FWIW .... version 11.5 now gives you the option to set the Funds Accounting transaction month automatically based on the date of the Contribution.
So, if the contributions were entered for a date of January 2012, they would be posted in 2012 and you wouldn't have this problem.
