Locate Button on Modify Unposted Contributions

This week I had something occur that I've never seen before. I was entering contributions and had entered about 200, both cash and check contributions. After entry, found one that needed to be changed so I went to Modify Unposted Contributions screen and used the Locate Button. What I saw was all the contributions I had entered, but many of them had the same name, but the envelop numbers listed were correct. All the ones entered as checks had the same name but the correct envelop numbers. All the cash contributions had the correct names and envelop numbers. The checks had been entered using the check scanner. If I used the Find button and entered the envelop number, the correct name was displayed. Also if I printed the unposted contributions, the names were correct. The only place this showed up was when I used the Locate button on the Modify Unposted Contributions screen.

I have tried but have not been able to duplicate this problem with just a few contributions. This didn't cause a big issue, but just wondering if anyone else has seen this problem.

Have you run a reindex lately ?

I should have stated on my post, that I did reindex when I first saw the problem and it didn't help. I restarted Power Church and it still showed the same name on all the contributions that were checks. It must have been related to the way I entered the checks, with a scanner. I've entered some test data manually and I can't get it to repeat. The next time I scan in checks, I will check it again and see if I get the same results.

Try this ..

1. Do a backup of everything.
2. Print off a list of those unposted contributions .. the report should like the envelope number
3. Post the Contributions.
4. Check to see if the contributions posted to the correct contributors. They should as you said the envelope numbers are correct.

The weird part is that I've not seen any other such report on the forums, if it were widespread, we would have seen more comments.

I actually did what you suggested and everything posted correctly. Might have been some clich when I scanned the checks.
