Add Designation

Using the contribution fund type and designations is very helpful in tracking things like memorial contributions and recently we have starting using this to track when folks pay for certain events. We have events where people pay for tickets and we must track which event each payment is for. Would be nice to have a way to add a designation on the fly from the enter contribution screen. When you get to designation box on Enter Contributions screen, then just have an option to "Add Designation". This is similar to other forms where you can add certain items on the fly. Thanks.

Interesting idea, problem is you still have to turn on the designation for the Contribution Fund you're entering data on. Yes, it could be done when you create the designation, but then the Contributions Secretary (or whomever) would lose control over such designations, especially as many churches have designated Counters who are volunteers who enter contributions.

Allowing them to do such on-the-fly creation of designations could easily get out of hand. It is possible to prevent this through adding a new permission type, but now its really starting to get complicated.

That said, if this can be done as part of the rewrite for the next version; allowing on-the-fly but preventing some from doing so, I'll have no problem with it.

Thanks for your thoughts. We only have a couple of people on staff who enter the contributions info in Power Church so we could control the designations set up. This would not be needed very much, since in most cases we could set up the designations in advance. Just a thought.
