Incorrect info in closed month

A contribution was incorrectly entered in July and the month closed. Apparently all info is correct except the person's last name. How do I go in and change the last name so that their year end receipt is correct? We are using PC 11.5

The membership information, which is where the contribution module gets its names and addresses from is not directly connected to the accounting module. You can go to Membership > Integrated Data Entry or Personal Profiles and correct the name there.

Also .. since the Contributions module is not tied to accounting .. closing a month in accounting doesn't mean you can make corrections in Contributions. All you would have to do is post to Contributions Only to fix things.
For instance, this morning we noticed that a member was using her teen son's envelopes when contributing. So his envelope showed $3000, and her envelope showed $50. Since all these are posted contributions, we needed to reverse the contributions in her son's envelope and add them to hers.
Since this didn't affect anything in Funds Accounting (the income accounts and contribution amounts were the same) we only posted to Contributions, so that the end-of-year statements reflected the correct envelope total.
