99999 contribution repair

Somehow we have lost the contribution for one family for the first 4 months of 2012. There is money showing in the 99999 envelope when the selected contributors report is run. Is it more than what is needed to cover what is missing. Is there any way to get it back where it is suppose to be without reentering it? If I reenter it I would expect it to make that totals for contributions in excess of what I reenter. Is there anyway to prevent this from occurring?
Thanks

The only way any envelope gets lumped into the 99999 envelope is if a family is deleted, or their envelope number is deleted; and before that happens you get plenty of warnings about what is going to happen.

And there is absolutely no way to recover any contributions data once its lumped into the 99999 envelope. The only reason that the 99999 number is there is so that if a envelope is deleted in some way, that deletion does not mess up the total contributions per contribution fund for the year.

As far as keeping it from happening, make sure that only knowledgeable people have the permissions to delete families and envelopes.
