Error instantiating cursor object. Cannot find ...

Post by mikalw »

I am writing a custom report in version 8.5. This particular report is in the Personal Profile area. I created and tested the report successfully. After tinkering with the report output format, data grouping, etc., I encountered the subject error after pressing the "Start Report" button. The full message in this case was:

Error instantiating cursor object. Cannot find c:\pcplus85\29878658.dbc

The error prompt window allows me options to attempt to Locate the file, Ignore the error, Cancel, or Help. Help for this topic is not available. Cancel stops the report. Ignore allows the report to successfully display. I have no idea where to locate the file. Since ignoring the error is successful it is unclear why the file is being requested.

Anyone encountered something like this before?

Thanks,

Error in custom reports

I run across this sometimes as well and its something to do with the FoxPro report writer. If you ignore the error and then edit the form it should go away. If not let me know.

Thanks Zada,

A simple edit of the form and the problem disappeared just as you thought it would.
