Anyone have any idea why I am getting the following message when I try to enter the custom report writer?
PROGRAM: PCREIND
LINE: 1016
ERROR: 1718
Message: File p:\qmdict.dbf is read only
It does not matter whether I am in Membership, Accounting, Contributions or any other part of the system. When I select Custom reports item from the menu I get this error message. When I click OK on the error message window, PowerChurch shuts down.
This is a new problem I have not experienced before. I was able to create custom reports from PowerChurch Plus V9 as recently as last week.
I am really frustrated!!! Hope someone can help me on this.
Thanks!

My first thought, has anyone changed directory permissions on the main Powerchurch server computer ?? My second thought, does your account have limited permissions on the machine you're using? (see this article:

As a test, go to Utilities > Reindex and choose any of the options there. Do you get Read Only / Cannot Upate The Cursor messages there?
If not, it sounds like that file in particular may be marked Read Only.

Thanks for the suggestions offered to date, but I have to report no success in resolving this problem

.
Our network administrator informs me that permissions have not been changed in the past three months. I do not have limited permissions, in fact I have full permissions.
When I go to Utilities and try to reindex files I am able to reindex all file types other than Custom Reports. When I try to reindex custom reports I get the same error message I listed in my original post on this subject. The entire PowerChurch program shuts down when I click OK on the error message.
Our network administrator has suggested rebooting our server might correct the problem. I will have him do this when he is available. If this does not correct the problem, does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thanks in advancve for any help you may be able to provide.

That explains the error ... the custom reports file is probably corrupted. Rebooting the server will do nothing to repair this problem.

Any suggestions how to get rid of the corruped file?
I only had a couple of custom reports created when the problem developed. I could easily replicate them. Therefore, I would not mind losing those reports. Since everything else seems to be working fine in PC V9, is there a way to reinstall just the custom report portion of the program? Will I need to reinstall the entire PC V9?
I am open to any suggestions. I really need to regain the capability to run custom reports as quickly as possible because a project our church is working on requires reports which are not available as standard reports.
Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can provide.
