custom reports excel printout

Custom report saved in excel is in all caps. Data is entered into PC all caps, but would like to change Mailing labels to be upper and lower case for names and address. Is this possible and how do I do it?

proper(field_name)
This will change the first letter of each word to uppercase and make the rest lowercase.

At what point do i change the upper and lower case? Is this in part of the report bands?
