checking accounts

Post by Bev Boike »

I am currently using one checking account and was reading about using sub-accounts to maintain accounts that keep a running balance such as a Deacon's Fund. Money comes and goes into that account. Currently when I do a trial balance, they don't balance because there is more money showing in the credit accounts then the debit accounts because of those running balances. I want to credit the sub-accounts to track that money and have a balance showing but how do I transfer money from my one account into the sub-accounts? Such as transferring from 01-1110 to 01-1110-010? I will be doing this with a fair number of accounts. Any help would be appreciated. I'm afraid I will be missing a step if I just transfer like that. Thank you!

Recommend that you either set up restricted accounts or set up separate accounting funds to accomplish this, rather than setting up subaccounts to your checking account.
