Individual email works, group email does not

Post by wvuuc »

New to PC+
Version 10.4, Windows XP SP2
Outlook 2003 with Outlook Connector
Windows Live Mail
Acer Laptop
Cable Modem

If I send an email to a single person from within PC, it works.

If I try to send an email to a group, I get the right addresses, including the one I sent the single email to, but clicking Start Sending returns this error message:

A connection to the email server could not be made.
2.0.0 BLU0-SMTP30. blu0. hotmail. com Service closing transmission channel. [spaces inserted to subvert URL ban]

Any suggestions?

Wayne

Individual emails are created using the default Email Program you have loaded on your computer: IE: Outlook or Outlook Express. Since this is your primary Email program, its setup to access your server's correctly.

When Powerchurch sends out a mass email, it will use an internal email protocol. Unless its setup correctly, you could get the message listed above. Have you verified that the email settings from within Powerchurch are the same as that used by your default Email program ??

Hotmail does not provide an SMTP for programs like PowerChurch to use. We need an SMTP server, Hotmail is HTTP.

There are other free webmail providers that will allow you to access an SMTP server, GMAIL is the first one that comes to mind.
