We had our AP on one computer and Contributions on another computer for the first 6 months of the year (we just started using PC-10 this year). We now can and want to put everything on one computer, if I just backup the Contribution files and restore them on the other machine, will that merge the two together without destroying any information? If that's not the answer, please provide detailed instructions on what I should do. TIA
BTW We have not posted on either machine

The easiest way to do this is:victorypastor wrote:We had our AP on one computer and Contributions on another computer for the first 6 months of the year (we just started using PC-10 this year). 1. Backup the AP files on the computer you're going to use as the main computer using the ACCOUNTING option on the backup options screen. This will pull only the accounting (Funds Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Payroll) data.
2. Backup the ENTIRE database from the second computer. The reason you want to do this is that the Contribution files are only part of what you need. You'll need to take the membership data too, along with any custom reports, etc., and its much easier to backup the whole database, then to figure out what you've missed. IMPORTANT: if the person who does the Accounting does not currently have permissions setup on this second machine, now is the time to add those permissions on this machine, then do the backup.
3. Restore the backup from step 2 to the main machine.
4. Restore the backup from step 1 to the main machine, this should only replace the accounting files.
5. Verify that people who should only have permissions to membership and contributions only have access to those areas, and those who only need access to accounting only have access to that area.
On posting from Contributions to Funds Accounting. You should POST any contributions that have already been entered into Funds Accounting using the Only Update Contributons Module option and then selecting those contribution dates from the list displayed list. This will clear out those Contributions from the posting module.
Then you can post the remaining dates direction to Funds Accounting.
Hope this helps.
