My church has upgraded to Version 10.4. A big reason for the upgrade is the ability to email contribution statements. This will save time and money. Anyway, I'm "testing" this before I give the financial secretary step by step directions on doing it. I got the set up right - at least the "test button" worked but I get an error when trying to send my statement to me. The error is 5.7.1 Authentication is required to send email as <resnxk96@
I'm not totally computer ignorant but am NOT an expert by any stretch. All of us - the church, the financial secretary and I are all on Verizon. I'm betting that this is a "dumb" error - something that I need to do. Any help will be greatly appreciated as I would really like to get the quarterly statements out!!!
Thanks!
Margaret

when you're sending an individual (IE: a single) email, the system does not use the built-in Powerchurch email engine, but will access the email program (MS Outlook or Outlook Express) to send the mail.
I suspect that the 'from' email address being used is not setup to send mail using the Outlook email account.
The test you should make is sending out a mass email to those with email addresses setup in Powerchurch. I'd just send something out alerting members to keep an eye out for their contribution statements which will come via email.
What this will do is two things, make sure the bulk email system works and sends out the emails, and also make sure that the email addresses you have entered are still correct.

The message that is coming through, "authentication is required", most likely refers to the fact that the "My server requires authentication" box is not checked, or the user name and password fields are incorrect for this server.
Go to File > Preferences > System Setup Options > E-mail tab. Also check to make sure you don't have any fields set to override the system settings on the File > Preferences > User Setup Options > E-mail tab.
Sending any reports, contributions statements or not, actually does use the PowerChurch Plus CS Mail e-mail engine. There is an e-mail icon on the Personal Profiles screen which just opens a mailto: link and uses your default mail client.

DOH .... i completely misread that. With the Test button working, I didn't consider that it would cause that issue of authentication.Zorak wrote:The message that is coming through, "authentication is required", most likely refers to the fact that the "My server requires authentication" box is not checked, or the user name and password fields are incorrect for this server.
