Mailing Lists

Post by emellesee »

Hi,

I've figured out a way to use the codes on the "other information" tab of the family mailing lists to tag families that aren't a part of our congregation but want to receive information about upcoming events at our church. Is there a way to set up an e-mail group for this kind of purpose as well?

The best way to handle this is through the mailing list profile codes, and not the 'other information' area. Most of the filtering for our mailing lists are done using the profile code.

We have a code for
  • Member
    Member, no longer on role,
    Visitor,
    Friend of Church
    Courtesy Copy
The courtesy copy code is used to code the profile for other churches, family members of staff, etc.

The Friend of Church is used to cover people who are, as you say, not members of the congregation, but are regular attendees of worship and/or other church functions.

HOWEVER Emails are only sent from data kept on the Personal Profile record. For emails you can do the same thing by setting up a Personal Profile Code for Friend of Church and using it when you filter profiles when you send emails.
