Reports - Contributions: Can you confirm my research that

Post by theocl »

a report of households (in Membership) who have not contributed cannot be created directly as a (custom) report?

If that's so, my solution appears to be the following:
- create a report of all households (based on mailing category, Membership).
- create a report of those contributing (in Contributions) also based on the mailing category.
- then, to identify households who have not contributed, extract the data for contributors (second report) from the data in the first report of all households, leaving the data for those not contributing. I plan to use excel spreadsheets.

If there's a better alternative, I'm "all ears"! Thanks.

Hmmmm. Don't know if this is what you are after but have you tried --
Contributions -> Reports - Contributions -> Selected Contributors
?

I just tried it, entering for the Total amounts from: 0.00 to: 0.00 and selected the Personal Status(es) of Member - Active and Non-member - Active and got a list of individuals/couples in those categories who have not contributed thus far this year.

Is that what you are looking for? (It does not generate addresses, however.)

Thanks Eden, I've tried that - results appear to only include those in the Contributions module who have had envelope numbers assigned.

Ah, yes! No envelope number assigned until the first contribution is made. That's how I do it, too. Guess that doesn't help after all. Sorry....

FWIW ... all you should need to do if someone who has not contributed does not have a number is verify that if there is no number assigned, they have not contributed.

That said, what we do at the last two churches I've been at is to give every member (or member household if a husband & wife is considered a giving unit) an envelope number. As members (theoretically at least) they should be contributing what they can afford, so they should all have numbers.

This would eliminate this issue completely and allow you to use the built-in report.
