Post by Phil Adams »

Sunday March 1st contributions were entered and posted to fund accounting. The bookkeeper noticed the posting still showed the month of Feb. (working month had not been changed). so she changed the transaction to read March and saved it. The posting has literally dissappeared!

We are using Vr 10 and we allowed for 12 months to be open in the accounting setup. March would have been month 13. I'm thinking in my little pointed head that this may be what caused the problem. The contributions still show up in the contribution module reports but, again, the posted transaction is nowhere to be found in fund accounting. Now what do we do?

I am taking the transaction was still unposted in Fund Accounting. Where have you looked for the transaction? It should still be listed in Modify Unposted Transactions. Is it missing from here are well?

If you look at the Fund Accounting Audit log, is it shown there as deleted?

The Audit Log does not show a deleted entry.

I suppose we could enter the contribution amounts via a journal entry but that doesn't solve the mystery.

The fact that the audit logs does not show it as deleted, does mean its in the system, are you sure the year on the transaction was either 2008 or 2009 ??

I remember reading about missing transactions found because the year was wrong, I just don't remember if that was in Contributions or Accounting ;(

Also check the contribution audit log to see how the posting was done. This will make sure it was posted to Fund Accounting.
