Importing Non-PowerChurch Formatted Data into PowerChurch

Post by crbrooks »

Does anyone know how to import non-PC data into PC. For example, PC Membership only allows import of very basic fields. We'd like to import other data from our old membership software into the PC data fields to avoid re-keying; same for Contributions, Accounting, etc.

Does anyone have any software to accomplish the above they'd be willing to share, or sell?

Any advice and assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Roger

PowerChurch Software offers Data Conversion service for a much more complete conversion than you are able to import through the program.

The cost is $200 for Membership and an additional $50 for Contributions.

To do this yourself requires a basic understanding of the Visual FoxPro language as well as an understanding of the language or software where your data currently resides.

What a bargain... and to know your data will be properly linked!

There is no way to import data into the Personal Profiles, only the Mailing List data.

Would anyone know if the conversion process mentioned below for $200 allows you to have PowerChurch import personal data information? Our issue is this. Someone set up Powerchurch years ago at the church. The problem is they set it up with codes that really could not classify the membership base. Over the years and through the upgrades the codes really don't make any sense so we need to start from scratch. We would like to export the personal information, clear out the custom & special code fields and then mass update some of the codes and put it all nicely back into Powerchurch. Can their tech support do this for us? I would think if they can do a conversion, they could. Any other suggestions on how we would approach this problem?

thanks,
BJ

That process sounds a little more complex than it needs to be.

In Personal Profiles, go to Maintain Custom Codes. Delete every code you find. You will be prompted as to what to do with people that are assigned that code. Choose to replace each with <NONE>.

You can do the same with Family Mailing List > Maintain Custom Codes.

This process would delete all the codes that had been entered in, as well as what is assigned to each family and individual.

If your names and addresses are good, there isn't any reason to export and import and all of that.
