Help Needed in Setting up Codes

Post by KimM »

I am trying to set up a system that I can input when a deacon makes a visit to a member and also put the date that the family was visited. I want to then be able to run a report for the deacons showing the full membership and then have a column which lists if the family has been visited and if so, the date they were visited plus a colum that defines if they "declined" a visit. From what I see the visitation module won't work in this case. What are your suggestions in getting this set up? Should I use some custom code fields. So far I have not used any special codes for my membership. I would appreciate any advice on this.

Kim,

You may want to hold off on this until Version 11 is released. The visitation module has been revised and will allow you to setup codes for type of visitation, who is visiting, and other items.

Do you have any clue when this version will be released? Also any suggestions in the meantime. I keep this information manually and I would like to give a nice looking report to the deacons. Thanks for your help!

From what the developers have said on the beta forums, they are trying to have this released by the end of the year, if possible.

As far as what you could do in the meantime, since visitations will change in many ways, I'm not sure if you'd want to put the time into developing something that you'd only have to change later on. While it may be great to have a nice looking report, I suspect the deacons will understand why you would want to hold off on anything until the updated version.

Do you think I could use the special codes field rather than the visitation module to solve this in the meantime?

Its a possibility, but then you really have no way to track the dates of visitation.
