When attempting to e-mail a report from V10 I get the following error:
“connection to email server could not be made. An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions.”
I have validated that the e-mail settings are accurate.
Any ideas on how to solve this problem?
Thanks!
Loren

Re: ERROR sending E-mail
Actually, its NOT a Powerchurch problem, its a problem with SPAMMERs, and what Verizon and other companies are doing to prevent SPAM.StaciH wrote:We get the same error message. We got this error message a month or so ago, and it turned out Verizon had changed some kind of email port settings. No matter what we did we could not work around this problem.
What we ended up doing was changing the outgoing mail server to a non-Verizon provider, specifically the email server used by the place that hosts our church website. This worked like a charm....until about a week and half ago.
Now we are getting the same error message again. We have tried everything we can think of to make it work again but basically we cannot send any bulk emailings through Powerchurch. No matter what outgoing email we try to use, we get the same error message.
This is clearly a Powerchurch problem, but we have not had any luck getting anyone at Powerchurch to acknowledge this. They say it is an email provider problem, but if so, then it's a problem with EVERY SINGLE EMAIL PROVIDER WE HAVE TRIED.
I am anxious to see what response we get here in these forums as we are very frustrated with Powerchurch right now. I have had to cut and paste emails for our entire congregation into an Outlook distribution list in order to be able to send bulk emailings.
Verizon may be considering your email address as a SPAM sender. How many emails are you sending out a week, and do you have the system setup to only send out so many at one time??
You may want to see if you can get your domain and/or email address whitelisted so that Verizon can know that you are not a SPAMMER. Here's the online form for that: http://www2.verizon.net/micro/whitelist ... asp?id=isp;
Now, to try to fix your problem please list the email settings you're using to connect to Verizon. The outgoing setting should look something like this:
outgoing.verizon.net:587, assuming that Verizon is using 587 as the port it has setup to use authenticated email logins. Your authentication ID should be your Verizon email address and password.
Also, if you could list the exact error message, including the error number and all other info, it would help to determine the exact cause of the problem.
Blessings.

Hi Staci,StaciH wrote:This has been very frustrating and the only folks who haven't at least tried to help have been Powerchurch. Their only response thus far has been, "it's not a PowerChurch problem."
I know you are in a frustrating place right now, with no e-mail provider working in PowerChurch Plus at your location. You may be getting your information second hand, though, because we have been working with someone else at your organization about this issue.
While we haven't given the answer that you want to hear, we have been trying to help. We haven't gotten your problem resolved, but it is not accurate and is just not fair to come here and say that we have not tried to help.

Have deleted my comments. I am sorry they came across harshly. Hope this helps.
