Is PCP 10 compatible with Windows 7? Are there any tricks I need to know to use with Windows 7 (install instructions, etc.)?
Re: Windows 7
I did a search and found this in the Knowledge Base:Harvest Fellowship wrote:Is PCP 10 compatible with Windows 7? Are there any tricks I need to know to use with Windows 7 (install instructions, etc.)?
You can find the rest of the Knowledge Base article here:Is PowerChurch Plus compatible with my Windows Operating System?
Our Technical Support Staff makes every effort in testing all versions of PowerChurch Plus with new Operating Systems as soon as they are available. Through our testing we’ve found PowerChurch Plus 6.2 through 8.5 are compatible with Windows 9x (95, 98, ME), NT4, 2000, and XP. v9 and 10 are compatible with 98, ME, 2000, XP, 2003 Server, and Vista. We only found one issue that is irreconcilable. We’ve detailed all issues below for your information:

FWIW ... I fully suspect that if there was a Windows 7 issue in version 10, we would have heard about it from the developers with any workarounds by this time. I've had a copy of Windows 7 available through my Microsoft Partner account since the early part of the year. I just need to find a spare computer to load it on

Re: Windows 7
Windows 7 basically contains all of the same features as Vista, only better implemented. PowerChurch Plus versions 9 and 10 should work great.

Re: Windows 7
What about Windows7 64 bit? I can do all of the work within PC10, but I cannot print.
I get an activation error "Printer not activated, error code -20"
After that I get an error window that says:
PROGRAM: PCHECKS
LINE: 117
ERROR: 1958
MESSAGE: Error loading printer driver
After clicking OK. PC10 shuts down.
Do I need to install Win7 32 Bit, or is there a solution with Win7 64bit?
Thanks
Mike

Re: Windows 7
There should not be an issue with 64 bit either.
In looking up this error message, we found that line 117 is blank in the code (a double space between two bits of actual code) and the PCCHECKS program has not been updated since early in 2008.
It sounds like you need to install the latest Maintenance Release for version 10.4:

This may not resolve the issue, but it least it will give us an accurate line number to look at to figure out what the error is about.

Re: Windows 7
I have downloaded and installed the maintenance release.
Is there a way for me to check to see if I can print the checks? I do not have other checks that I need to print right now.
Also, the other reports print fine.

Create a check to print, print on blank paper, then void the checkmichaeleyre wrote:I have downloaded and installed the maintenance release.

Re: Windows 7
I wanted to let everyone know that the maintenance release solved my problem. The only thing that I have to make sure of is that the printer is set a default.
Thanks for all of your help.

Re: Windows 7
What is the oldest version of Power Church that is compatible with Windows 7? I am currently using version 8.5 and need to buy a new computer-probably with Windows 7. I assume I might need to upgrade Power church.
Re: Windows 7
FWIW ... it may be a good idea to upgrade anyway, as version 11 is due out in a few months or so.bethlehem23 wrote:What is the oldest version of Power Church that is compatible with Windows 7? However, 8.5 was tested and worked with XP, but not with Vista and probably will not work with Win7, so an upgrade is probably in your future one way or another.
