Using v.9, is there a way that we can set up the cheques to use the Canadian format method (largest to smallest (yyyy mm dd). Our financial institutions use this format, and if we use their cheques, we need to be able to print in this format.
Is this feature changed in v.10?

Re: Canadian date format
I know many Canadian churches use Powerchurch, and I've not seen anything about cheque dates before. You can change the date from the American style: mm/dd/yyyy to the Canadian/European style: dd/mm/yyyy but that's the only internal change available.Al wrote:Using v.9, is there a way that we can set up the cheques to use the Canadian format method (largest to smallest (yyyy mm dd). Thanks Neil
Not sure what's happening here. It's been my observation that since Canada went "metric" away back when, that the formal date format was yyyy mm dd (eg. 2009 04 30 is April 30, 2009). Maybe our Credit Union, Bank, and federal Government have it wrong; or maybe this is something that PowerChurch would be willing to change.
Here's a URL
http://www.tbs-sct.gc.ca/clf-nsi/inter/ ... 04-eng.asp
which covers the topic.
If our Church moves from manual cheques to printed ones, we certainly will want to use the standard expected by our Government and financial institutions (rather than some standard of another country).

everything I read there is talking about standardizing the look of dates on Canadian websites, there is nothing there about having to use a specific date format on any type of written communication, or cheques.
Perhaps another Canadian user could chime in here ??

Re: Canadian date format
The Canadian government changed the format for checks several years ago. We released an maintenance release for version 9 in October 2006. Here is the link to the announcement:

Re: Canadian date format
Would it be that difficult to code in another format to PowerChurch? There are two now on this version. v.9
http://www.cdnpay.ca/rules/pdfs_rules/standard_006.pdf is another URL which covers this topic from a Canadian/International standpoint. The examples use yyyy mm dd as well as others, and I'd like to see this format implemented in PowerChurch. I realize that this may be hard for some folks to accept.
Couldn't see anything in the Maintenance Release that allowed for yyyy mm dd, and I think we've got that maintenance release. I have MDAC Version 2.81.1132.0 with date of 10/13/2008.

Re: Canadian date format
I'm not sure what the issue is that you are seeing, but both Canadian Cheque formats that are included in the program use YYYY MM DD date format.
Are you using "Custom cheque layout" as your default?
If so, it would not have been automatically updated by the Maintenance Release that added these cheque formats back in 2006.
Try resetting your custom cheque layout to one of the designated Canadian formats and it will most likely resolve your issue.

Re: Canadian date format
AHA !! I set my test system to Canadian, then found the extra check formats. Changed to the format that coincided with what we had setup normally, then printed a test.
The date came out in the yyyy-mm-dd format properly on the check portion of the printout.
The key is to select one of the Canadian check formats as listed under Preferences -> Custom Check Layout then do any customization as needed as referenced by Zorak in the previous post. You may have to have a Powerchurch System Admin access that area for you.
As I've often said, I'm always learning new things about PC+.

Re: Canadian date format
It works. Thank you so much. Now I'll just have to see about getting cheques printed to match the output. I'm wondering if the distance from the top of the page will vary from printer to printer?

Re: Canadian date format
It shouldn't. We use the full page size, setting our own margins, regardless of printable area.
