We have a family in our church that owns their own company. Sometimes they make contributions through the company name. Our financial secretary added another household/profile under the business name.
From a membership stand point, I don't really want to see another household in the system because that is misleading. would it work better to add the company as a profile (family member) within the real household and just give it a profile status of "Non-member"?
Does anyone else have this situation?
thanks,
Debbie
Company name as contributor; what kind of member?

Yes, we had this same type of issue. You do not want to make it a member, but you also do not want it under the family record. The business may have the same mailing address, but it is a separate entity, and should have its own mailing list profile.debbieg wrote:We have a family in our church that owns their own company. What we did in this case was set it up as a 'friend of the church' profile type, both for mailing and personal profiles. You can still track the contributions, but it is not listed as a member. We have many individuals who are listed as such. These are people who are regular attenders, always contribute, even ask for a box of envelopes, but do not wish to join the church.

We have defined a status of "Contributor Only". These folks are not counted as members but do contribute and need to receive a contribution statement under the name on the contribution check. We probably have over 100 in this category, some regular contributors, some a few times a year.

I like that name...it gets right to the point. do you do that as the mailing category or personal profile status?

Anything you do in this, you would have to setup these as both a mailing list category to cover the mailing address, and a personal profile status, to cover the profile needed to associate an envelope number.debbieg wrote:I like that name...it gets right to the point. do you do that as the mailing category or personal profile status?
