Can accounting modules be erased?

Post by gospeltab »

We started using v.11 to begin on January 1, 2010. At the initial set-up I missed entering several payroll liabilities that I didn't realize needed to be paid. (I had to take over as treasurer and inherited a mess...) As a result, I posted the amounts on the check to the IRS incorrectly and am not sure how to fix that whole problem.

The person that is supposed to be entering our contributions hasn't entered anything yet and I have only finished accounting data through the end of January.

Is it possible to just erase all of that data and start over? Or I guess ideally, I would like to keep the information from the membership module so I don't have to re-enter that again.

Thanks!

You can restart accounting. All you need to do is select in the version 11 menu: Accounting -> Funds Accounting -> Setup and select Accounting Setup, then click on the Restart Accounting button. In version 10, you will need to go into File -> Preferences to find the Accounting Setup there.

The accounting data will be deleted, and you'll get the Accounting Setup wizard to walk you through the setup again. NO other areas of the database will be affected, so any membership or contributions data will not be touched.

If I restart the accounting module, will it restart payroll as well, or will that still stay the same?

I'm fairly sure it resets ALL of accounting, so you lose data under Funds Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll.

This is according to an answer I found on the search "restarting accounting".
